
Dolia Gonzales Scholarship Opportunity
If you are a direct descendant of a member of the 1st Battalion 1st Marine Vietnam Veteran Association you may qualify for one of two Scholarships.
The applicant should be able to demonstrate one or more of the Marine Corps Core Values:

DIRECTIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION COMPLETION:
STEP 1 – Read ALL instructions and the application carefully
STEP 2 -- Fill out ALL sections of application
STEP 3 – Include a transcript of grades WITH application or via your high school’s method of delivery.
STEP 4 – Include a list of all extra-curricular activities, noting any leadership positions held. A resume is acceptable.
STEP 5 – Include Letter(s) of Recommendation that are NOT from your 1/1 Association Sponsor.
STEP 6 – Email or mail to the Scholarship Committee postmarked by April 30, 2026.

Our 2026 recipient: Samantha Austin. I am attending Ohio University with a major in Social Work and a Minor in American Sign Language. I am on their 5 year master program and I am academically a sophomore even though I am a freshman. I plan to either work in the VA as a trauma therapist or a School Social Worker, but my plans may change as I do my clinicals. I would like to thank the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines Vietnam Veterans Association for supporting me as I continue my college career. I hope to continue to make this group proud and continue to help veterans in my future!

Our 2026 recipient, Alexa Dale Eversole.
I plan on attending University of South Carolina - Beaufort, where I am a part of the honors program. I will be an honors nursing major, with a minor in public health. It is a four year program and when completed I will earn my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I plan to become a Pediatric Hemotology and Oncology nurse. I earned my CNA licenses as well in high school with my clinical period being served at The Veterans Victory House here in Walterboro SC.
I would just like to thank 1st Battalion, 1st Marines Vietnam Veterans Association, for supporting me in pursing nursing as well as helping fund my education. I wish you all the best and hope to make your group proud. Thank you for your service.

Our 2026 recipient, Aidan Medica.
I plan on attending SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. I will be a biochemistry major, with a minor in biotechnology. I want to complete their five year program where I can earn a Masters in Chemistry as well. I plan to focus on pollution remediation to provide more efficient and safer methods to dispose of materials that pollute the environment.
